The list of the 25 most intelligent countries on the planet has traditionally been compiled by the British portal Vouchercloud. According to the ranking, Asian and European states have gained leading positions.
The rating was based on such indicators as the number of Nobel Prize winners in each country (for presenting historical intelligence), the success of the population in studying, i.e. current average IQ (for presenting the present intelligence) and level of education (for determining the intelligence of the future generation). According to the researchers, "all possible areas were covered in order to find the most talented population."
The rating, which hit mainly the countries of Asia and Europe, is headed by Japan. To be at the top of the list, the state was allowed high scores for all three evaluation criteria.
The United States received fourth place in the ranking, although the country owes this result primarily to an impressive number of Nobel Prize winners. They were in the history of the United States as many as 368 people.
Kazakhstan ranked 9th among 25 countries in terms of school education, overtaking the United States, Israel, Finland, the Netherlands.
In Vouchercloud noted:
“Russia represents Europe in sixth place, while its neighboring Kazakhstan, hitherto known only by Borat and annexed by the Soviet Union, surpassed expectations, finding itself in ninth place in the list of countries with the smartest children on the planet. Could this be a new intellectual superpower? Be famous Kazakhs! ”
Notes to the data Data on Nobel Prize winners were collected from World Atlas, while global IQ scores were obtained from a Lynn & Vanhanen case study in 2012,
and schoolchildren’s assessments (school education level) were obtained from Our World in Data 2015.
The results of the achievement come from standardized psychometrically stable international and regional tests. In order to maximize coverage across countries, tests were agreed and combined in subjects (mathematics, reading, science) and in levels (primary and secondary education). This data set covers 163 countries and regions for 1965–2015. Globally comparable achievement results were built by combining standardized, psychometrically robust international and regional tests, including TIMSS, PIRLS, PISA, FIMS, FISS, SIMS, SISS, SRC, RLS, MLA, IAEP, SACMEQ, PASEC and LLECE.
